Rod's Secret Garden, near Halfords. Rod's Secret Garden is a new community garden behind Halfords in Northwich. Open: TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS 10am - 4pm Location: 24 Oak St, Northwich CW9 5LJ. Park in Matalan (4hr free). Walk down the side of Halfords and onto Venables Road (behind Saisbury's Petrol Station). Cross the road at the pedestrian island and walk to the top of the ramp (fork left halfway up) onto OAK STREET. Find the narrow path next to 24 Oak Street and follow our signs into the garden and up the ramp. History: The garden was created by Rod Inwood. On retirement from managing a local tree nursery, he spent ten years creating a magical space with herbaceous flowers and a productive vegetable area. Rod passed away in February 2020 but the garden has kindly been entrusted to Transition Northwich. As well as the two garden 'rooms' which are lovely to sit and relax in, there is a workshop space and thriving allotment. We work together to maintain and develop the garden, share skills and create a beautiful space for relaxation. Local community groups or individuals are welcome to use the space as a venue for activities for free. It's ideal for craft sessions, light exercise and well-being activities. Our friendly volunteers meet twice a week - everyone is welcome to join us. COMMUNITY GROUPS are welcome to book to use the garden for their activities for free. Contact Us to find out more. We are currently planting, weeding, and eating(!) our freshly grown vegetables! We have lots of things to do if you'd like to help, or just enjoy a relaxing cuppa with us. Free art materials are available to use in the garden. Toilet and Free refreshments available. All-terrain wheelchairs can access the garden via the back gate - please contact us in advance so we can assist you. Join our fbk page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/580608346195674 Any questions? Art & Craft in the Garden
The volunteers and Seed Team at Rod's Secret Garden have been working hard to get the garden ready to welcome visitors and community groups back. This month we launched a new crafting club (every other Saturday morning) and stitched and chatted together adding patches to our new-to-us gazebo cover.
A big thanks goes to Hilary at Scrapadoo for braving her studio in a snow storm to repair the cover with her machine.
